Cotton Cable Chill-dense Knit

Originating from tennis culture and worn as an item of Ivy League style, the Chill-dense sweater boasts enduring popularity. It can be considered a staple of American traditional fashion.

In this instance, we've adapted such Chill-dense sweaters to modern styles, giving them a more mature and refined impression.

The cotton used in this jersey knit, treated with pseudo-hemp (gima) processing, has a dry texture and excellent breathability. It's recommended for town wear during spring or humid seasons.

It pairs exceptionally well with classic denim and other cool items like white cotton pants. It can be worn standalone or layered with t-shirts and shirts for added style.

■ Pseudo-hemp Processing (Gima Processing) A method of processing where a special resin is coated on the surface of yarn to give cotton, silk, or other materials a texture resembling hemp.

Kamakura Shirts' Commitment: The Knit Collection
A special garment born from the art of "knitting."

Kamakura Shirts' knit collection is crafted from meticulously selected materials and the skilled techniques of seasoned artisans. Each piece reflects an unwavering dedication to detail, from delicate stitching to a smooth texture, embodying the refined aesthetic of Japanese craftsmanship. The superior design and exceptional comfort blend seamlessly into both business and casual styles.

This time, we introduce knits produced in Niigata, one of Japan's renowned knitting regions.

“Trusted Made-in-Japan Quality” from Niigata

Kamakura Shirts' knits are produced in a Niigata factory with over 70 years of history. This region, rich in skilled craftsmanship, is a major hub for Japanese-made knitwear. Even as the number of artisans declines and labor shortages increase, Kamakura Shirts remains committed to domestic production, prioritizing quality above all else.

“High-quality Japanese knits for more people.” With reliable craftsmanship and products designed to be cherished for years, Kamakura Shirts' knits embody enduring quality and trust.

Why is Japanese-Made Knitwear Superior?

Currently, 99% of knitwear sold in Japan is produced overseas. Amid this landscape, the mere 1% of domestically made knitwear is crafted by the skilled hands of experienced artisans.

At the Niigata factory, the German-made Scheller full-fashioned (FF) knitting machines are used to create three-dimensional knits that conform perfectly to the human body. While this advanced technology enables intricate knitting, it requires precise maintenance to function flawlessly.

In addition, every stage beyond knitting—such as pattern creation, programming, cutting, and sewing—is supported by experienced craftsmen. Their expertise gives rise to knitwear that fits seamlessly into the lives of those who wear it.

Meticulous Design

From the concept stage, artisans collaborate closely to refine and materialize ideas, ensuring each product embodies the optimal design. This dedication to detail results in exceptionally high-quality pieces.

One standout product is the “FF30G (Gauge),” a masterpiece that combines the beauty of ultra-fine stitching with unparalleled comfort. While anything above 12-gauge is typically considered high-gauge, the 30-gauge fabric is even more delicate, offering an elegant, dressy sophistication.

To highlight the fabric’s intricate texture, the process of linking the ribbing to the main fabric involves a meticulous handcrafting technique called “linking,” where each stitch is individually threaded with a needle. The fusion of artisan skill and refined design creates exceptional items that excel across a wide range of occasions.
